Jelena Tomasovic (Head Coach)
As a 7 time Alberta Provincial Champion over the years, Jelena has developed her love for the sport through playing and coaching. Receiving her Instructors Certificate at the age of 15, making her the youngest instructor at that time to ever be certified in Canada, Jelena has several years experience of coaching adults and 6 years experience in coaching teens and kids from the ages of 3 and up. Jelena has trained players who are now ranked among top 5 in the province in their age groups, as well as one provincial champion and one provincial finalist.
Her own tennis career started at the age of 9 when she first picked up a racket. A few years later, appearing at the Alberta Provincial Championships for the first time, she goes on to take the provincial title. With experience training internationally in countries as far as Australia, the United States, and Serbia, Jelena knows exactly what a good academy is comprised of. Having competed in many countries through Central America, Jelena had reached No. 508 in the world on the Junior Internation Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking list.
The head coach has now decided to put what she has learnt throughout the past 12 years of being in the sport into play and pass her knowledge on to others. She enjoys coaching both competitive and recreational players because she likes seeing progress within players of all levels.
Coaching children would be Jelena's strong point mostly because she is able to explain in many ways that children as young as 3 years old are even able to understand.
Coaching high performance players is her passion due to the discipline, determination, and hard work she gets to see each and every minute of the time she and her player step onto the court.
Favourite quote: Talent can only take you so far; hard work however, can take you all the way.
Just know that when you are not training, someone somewhere is, and when you do play him, he will win.
